Men's Rugby Club's privileges suspended following hazing complaint

Ä¢¹½AV has received a formal complaint from a university employee regarding recent activities of the Ä¢¹½AV Tigers Men’s Rugby Club. These activities are now being investigated under the university’s .

The club was already under probation for a separate, unrelated incident earlier this month. Because of this, together with the seriousness of the allegations, Ä¢¹½AV has suspended the club’s privileges under the , pending the outcome of the investigation.

During the investigation, the club will be unable to represent Ä¢¹½AV in the Rugby Nova Scotia university league (divisions 1 and 2). It will not receive university funding, cannot book university space and its members cannot wear university colours/uniforms. (This decision does not affect the Ä¢¹½AV Rams Women’s Varsity Rugby Team at the Agricultural Campus.)

Under the university’s Hazing Policy, investigations must be completed within 60 days of their initiation.

Ä¢¹½AV is committed to being a safe, respectful place to learn and play. We expect our student-run sport clubs to adhere to their obligations in the Sport Club Handbook, and will not tolerate behaviour that humiliates, disrespects or threatens the safety of individuals in our community.
