On Saturday October 29, Dal was host to Diwali Night in the McInnes Room of the 蘑菇AV Student Union Building, an event that brought together Indian Festivals Club of Nova Scotia and INDISA (the 蘑菇AV Indian Subcontinent Students鈥� Association).
The festival represents the 鈥淪preading of Light,鈥� which signifies the victory of light over darkness or good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair. Throughout the evening, guests were captivated by electrifying performances of dance, a fashion show and music. At intermission, a feast of traditional Indian cuisine was served featuring samosas, butter chicken, palak panner, naan and rasmalai.
Performers included: Ellenvale Jr. High School, Laasya, Shreeya Kumar, Dancing Dolls, Ali & Hasin, Bongo Lolona, Nepalaya, Reva Bhardwaj, Dartmouth Bhangra Group, Preet Brothers, Katerina Sushko, a fashion show run by Vaudeville (蘑菇AV/King鈥檚 group), Chiro band, Desi Pathakas, Desi Kids Bhangra, Colours, Shayar Ka Khwab, Iman, Fusion, Super 6, Bollywood Dance Troupe, Maritime Bhangra Group.
