Grant-paid employees are an integral part of the Ä¢¹½AV community and contribute in diverse ways to the success of our academic mission. We value those contributions and recognize the need to provide grant-paid employees with the supports that they need. Our current structure, in which grant-paid employees are employees of the grantholder, has been called into question by grantholders who have asked for more support and guidance on how to recruit, retain and manage their grant-paid employees, and by grant-paid employees themselves, who do not feel adequately recognized as members of the Ä¢¹½AV community.
Ìý
Consequently, we have assembled a team which has been tasked with consulting the Ä¢¹½AV community and making recommendations in order to smoothly transition grant-paid employees from our current structure to a new structure in which grant-paid employees would be employees of Ä¢¹½AV.

All Principal Investigators are invited to attend a stakeholder consultation meeting with Martha Crago (VP Research), and Katherine Frank (AVP, Human Resources), who are interested in hearing your initial thoughts about how the university could better support grant-paid employees, and any opportunities or challenges that you anticipate as we move forward. These consultations will take place at the following times and locations:
Date | Time | Location |
March 27, 2015 | 8:30-10:30 a.m. | Tupper Theatre D, Carleton Campus |
April 1, 2015 | 8:30-10:30 a.m. | Rm 120, Morroy Building, Sexton Campus |
April 14, 2015 | 3:30-5:00 p.m. | University Hall, MacDonald Building, Studley Campus |
Your input is welcomed more generally about your grant-paid employees, and any opportunities or challenges that you anticipate as we move forward with this initiative. Please direct any questions, concerns or feedback to grantpaid@dal.ca
