With so much happening in our world, we can become complacent and easily forget the plight of others. Upon hearing of the shortage situation in Cuba, I decided to put together a mini-humanitarian trip to Varadero and three local pharmacists including two Dal grads made it possible!

Stephanie Williams is the first person in her immediate family to attend university. After graduating from Dal in 2020 with a BScN, Williams accepted a position at the Garron Centre for Child and Adolescent Mental Health while also working in withdrawal management in Lunenberg and Dartmouth.

Simon Pawlowski worked for many years as an entomologist, however, he began to find the long hours of lab work isolating. Pawlowski searched for a new career path that would allow him to work more directly with people. Through research, career aptitude tests, and recommendations from the Wolfville Hearing Clinic, he discovered the field of audiology.

During her studies, MacEachren became passionate about understanding how the various daily tasks and activities people engage in impact their health and their wellbeing. She also believes the Occupational Science program broadened her awareness of diverse perspectives and the importance of equity.

For Christine Barnes, graduation marks the culmination of six years of hard work. Barnes was introduced to physiotherapy through a high school co-op placement where she worked within a stroke and rehabilitation context. That experience ignited a passion for working with others towards their functional recovery, with the focus of allowing her patients to participate in their own lives.

Sun Lee moved to Kitchener, Ontario from Seoul, South Korea in 2013 where she was employed as an occupational therapist assistant and physiotherapist assistant. Despite loving and being proud of her work, Lee began to look for other career opportunities. Lee’s search led her to Digby, Nova Scotia where she accepted a position with the Digby Hospital.

Lyndsay Bozec (MSc ’14) didn’t always know what she wanted to do, but she knew she wanted to be in healthcare and help people. Now, she has her own audiology clinic, and to give back to her community she does a yearly giveaway to help those who need hearing aids but can’t afford them.
